Exhibition of ceramic buttons made by renowned potter Lucie Rie (1902-1995) for the fashion industry. Rie emigrated to the UK during the Second World War and began producing buttons after spotting a gap in the market, many British button factories having been requisitioned for the War effort. The exhibition highlights this less well known area of her practice, displaying hundreds of her buttons alongside many examples of domestic wares she became celebrated for. The display also includes ceramics by Hans Coper and Bernard Leach.
