The Lie of the Land

Exhibition exploring the history and transformation of the British landscape and built environment caused by radical changes in work and leisure activities, from Capability Brown gardens through the Victorian Parks Movment and Garden City Movement to the urban and social experiment offered by 20th century Milton Keynes. Artists and designers include Archigram, John Berger, Canaletto, Jeremy Deller, Elisabeth Frink, William Powell Frith, Richard Buckminster Fuller, Thomas Gainsborough, Richard Hamilton, Emma Hart, Gertrude Jekyll, Laura Knight, LS Lowry, Edwin Lutyens, Henry Moore, Paul Nash, Eduardo Paolozzi, Joseph Paxton, John Ruskin, Yinka Shonibare, David Shrigley, Alison and Peter Smithson, JMW Turner and Rachel Whiteread.
