Grete Marks: An Intimate Portrait

Wednesday 26 June 2019Sunday 27 October 2019

Grete Marks (also known as Margret Marks or Margarete Heymann) was one of the earliest female students of the Bauhaus School. This exhibition features portrait paintings and drawings from the 1920s and 1930s. Marks is best known for founding the Hael-Werkst├Ątten pottery in Germany - examples of which will also be included in the exhibition - and later for her Grete Pottery created in the UK after emigrating in 1938. The exhibition marks the centenary of the foundation of the Bauhaus in 1919.
