Solo exhibition of work by Harland Miller (b. York, 1964) featuring new and existing works, including the ‘Penguin Book Covers’ and the ‘Pelican Bad Weather Paintings’ series. These works directly refer to the artist’s relationship to York, the city in which he grew up, as well as making wider references to the culture and geography of Yorkshire as a whole. In addition to these dust jacket paintings, the artist shows works from his recent ‘Letter Painting’ series; canvases made up of overlaid letters to form short words or acronyms in a format inspired by the illuminated letters of medieval manuscripts.
